On July 26th, a high-ranking official in North Korea informed us that "Kim Jong-un has recruited a female “Pleasure Group” especially for Guard Command or Presidential Security just as his father Kim Jong-il did." The Pleasure Group, or Gippeumjo, is a group of women and girls rigorously trained to provide entertainment for high-ranking officials or distinguished guests of North Korea.
NKSIS, having pursued for some time credible evidence about Kim Jong-un's private life, reported in November, 2009, that he had authority over the personnel affairs of the North Korean Army's middle-ranking executives and Central Party's department heads and below. This is more authority than a secretary of the General Political Bureau's Control Committee usually holds.
We also suggested North Korea was preparing to build an official residence solely for Kim Jong-un in Pyongyang. Following this, in December 2009, South Korean Yonghap News Agency reported that the official residence had been in preparation, something the U.K.'s Daily Telegraph covered, too. Furthermore, a document related to the construction was obtained.
In June and July this year, multiple sources informed us that "from February to August, 2009, Kim Jong-un selected 90 women under the age of 23 from amongst 200 candidates. The selection process was led by the Central Party's Organization and Guidance Department's 5th Personnel Affairs Division. This is clear evidence that the North has officially set out to please and satisfy Captain Kim Jong-un in the manner of the person he is set to succeed, the “Great Leader” Kim Jong-il."
According to our sources, whereas Kim Jong-il preferred women smaller than 5.4ft, with artistic talent, and possessing a more voluptuous “western” figure, Kim Jong-un prefers women over 5.5ft tall with a delicate and mild look, accomplished in both the arts and sports. Accordingly, said a source, "Kim Jong-un's selection standards included criteria such as 'what kind of sports does she like?' a question which was not on his father's list of concerns. It seems that there are a lot of sports lovers amongst the chosen."
Presently, this pleasure group is divided into five groups and working in close proximity to Kim Jong-un. All are organized according to military ranks under the Guard Command (group leader equals lieutenant; group member equals first lieutenant,) wear military uniform, and live in Kim Jong-un's official residence or in the office building of the Party's Central Committee. Among these 90 women, 10 were specially selected from the Ministry of People's Security's Taekwondo squad to escort Kim. There will undoubtedly be much more attention placed on the future activities of Kim Jong-un's 'Beautiful Bodyguards.'
